Litter Free Zone teaches Elementary, Intermediate, and Middle School students ways to create a campus that is free of litter.  Beginning with information on Litter Prevention strategies from Keep America Beautiful research, participating schools learn about the consequences of litter and are then trained as Litter Scene Investigators.  The campus is organized into zones and litter is marked, measured, and counted.  Critical thinking skills are called for as the students reflect on possible sources for the litter and ways to reduce that litter in the future.
